San Clemente Toll Road Solution Reached!
San Clemente Toll Road Solution Reached!
Jim Wynne at Kidder Mathews spoke on behalf of the San Clemente Chamber of Commerce at the latest Transportation Corridor Agencies' Board Of Director Meeting. After years-long discussion, a favorable solution has been reached for the citizens of South Orange County. The accepted routes will provide three commuting improvements - to Ortega Highway, the 5 Freeway, and Los Patrones Parkway - without requiring the construction of a toll road into San Clemente or other communities. Listen to Jim's full remarks on why this matters, and how this decision is a win for all parties involved.

“Good morning everyone. My name is Jim Wynne with WynneCRE at Kidder Mathews and I’m honored to be here today as the representative for the San Clemente Chamber of Commerce.
Rome conquered the ancient world through the construction and use of new roadways, and the San Clemente Chamber recognizes and supports the same indisputable necessity of regional mobility here today - 3,000 years later. Our modern highways are the backbone of business conquests and economic victory all across our ever-growing South Orange County communities.
We would like to recognize and appreciate the extensive public engagement between the TCA and our local citizens to find the best possible solutions to both the current and future transportation challenges we all face on a daily basis.
These thorough and exhaustive efforts have proved successful, as evidenced by today’s Agenda Section 6, Item 9. TCA meticulously researched a multitude of possible solutions, listened to the ideas and concerns from our communities, and ultimately reached a favorable decision, by the people and for the people, of our great cities.
The San Clemente Chamber of Commerce is joyously unrestrained to have our small town preserved without further routes going through our hillsides. We look forward to the advancement and completion of three enhancement projects recommended in the Caltrans scoping report and anticipate great improvements to our transit needs. I provide commercial real estate solutions to business and property owners in South Orange County and personally understand the frustration of traffic and commuting issues as I endure the South County Crawl as a function of my workday. (In fact, it’s not just me who is looking for relief; 24,000 of our San Clemente residents have active Toll Road accounts, approximately 50% of our adult population).
This advantageous and beneficial solution will ensure our shores, hiking trails, and beautiful natural spaces will remain open, accessible, and unscarred for all of us here today and will become even more reachable for the many future generations to come.
Thank you.” -Jim Wynne
